Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility:听The Volleyball Assistant Coach / JV Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Volleyball Coach in the administration and operation of the varsity volleyball program while serving as the primary coach for the junior varsity (JV) volleyball team. The position promotes the academic, athletic, personal, and leadership development of student-athletes and contributes to a positive, competitive environment that aligns with the mission, values, and goals of the university and athletic department.

Works as needed.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

The Volleyball Assistant Coach / JV Volleyball Coach performs a variety of coaching, recruiting, administrative, and mentoring responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Coaching and Player Development

• Serve as the head coach of the JV volleyball program, including planning and conducting practices, competitions, and team activities.听
• Assist the Head Volleyball Coach with varsity team practices, game preparation, and competition management.听
• Provide instruction in volleyball fundamentals, advanced techniques, conditioning, and strategy.听
• Evaluate and develop student-athletes to support progression within the volleyball program.听
• Foster sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, leadership, and personal growth among student-athletes.听

Recruiting

• Assist in identifying, evaluating, and recruiting prospective student-athletes.听
• Maintain communication with prospective students, coaches, and families.听
• Coordinate and participate in recruiting events, tournaments, campus visits, and outreach activities.听
• Support enrollment and retention efforts for volleyball student-athletes.听

Program Administration

• Assist with scheduling, travel coordination, equipment management, and game-day operations.听
• Maintain team records, statistics, practice plans, and other program documentation. 听
• Coordinate JV team schedules and operations in collaboration with the Head Coach and Athletic Department.听
• Assist with budget management and inventory control as assigned.听

Student-Athlete Support

• Monitor academic progress and encourage academic success among student-athletes.听
• Serve as a mentor and role model while supporting the personal development and well-being of team members.听
• Promote adherence to university policies, team rules, and standards of conduct.听

Compliance and Institutional Engagement

• Ensure compliance with all university, conference, and governing association rules and regulations.听
• Represent the institution in a professional manner at athletic events, recruiting functions, and community activities.听
• Participate in departmental meetings, professional development opportunities, fundraising initiatives, camps, clinics, and community engagement activities.听

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Directly supervise JV volleyball student-athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and team activities.听

Expected Outcomes

• Develop a successful and competitive JV volleyball program that supports varsity program goals.听
• Contribute to student-athlete recruitment, retention, and development.听
• Promote academic achievement and positive student-athlete experiences.听
• Support the overall success and reputation of the volleyball program and athletic department.听
• Maintain compliance with all applicable institutional and athletic regulations.听
• Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.听

This position requires the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as necessary to fulfill coaching and recruiting responsibilities.
